Who needs to lose weight?
Anyone with a BMI between 23 and 27 should aim to reduce weight through exercise and healthy eating.
- People with a BMI 27 or greater may need to be offered additional treatment to reduce their weight. New Leaf Healthcare has a range of prescription medication to assist with weight loss.
- People who have a weight related risk factor such as heart disease, diabetes, stomach acid reflex, knee osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, centralisation of body fat ("big around the middle") could be treated at a lower threshold weight.
- If your waist is over 37” for a man or 32” for a woman you should try to reduce your weight.
